DIAPOSITIVE
by Children of the Light (NO-NL)
Diapositive, a kinetic light sculpture, is an allegory of a solar eclipse. The work, which explores the relationship between light and darkness, consists of a rotating frame made of black metal that emits a pure, intense light both inward and outward, comparable to daylight. As it passes through artificial fog, this light creates suspended forms that are in constant transformation, bringing the work to life.
During their discovery of Diapositive, the audience is not only invited to move around the structure to observe it from different angles, but they will also have the sensation of being able to touch the image and grasp its luminous shapes. The dark areas of Diapositive act as black holes, creating an almost tactile, physical darkness. The work is a continuation of Children of the Light’s research into treating light as matter.
