OH LORD
by Guillaume Marmin (FR)
Oh Lord is the result of a collaboration with the Paris-Meudon Observatory and the Institute of Planetology and Astrophysics of Grenoble, drawing on various databases related to solar observation, including some provided by NASA. The scientific images presented in the installation reflect the technical advances of modern astronomy and, above all, our ever-renewed fascination with the Sun. Since the earliest days of humanity, the Sun has played various roles: as the keystone of the world’s order, a tool for political legitimization, a factor of social unity, and even a forerunner of monotheism. In the face of environmental and energy challenges, it crystallizes our fears and hopes more than ever.
Software programming: Valentin Dupas
Scientific advisors: Lucie Leboulleux and Isabelle Bualé Installation created in collaboration with the Paris-Meudon Observatory and the Institute of Planetology and Astrophysics of Grenoble, with the kind permission of NASA/SDO and the scientific teams of AIA, EVE, and HMI.
Guillaume Marmin designs installations and performances that explore the connections between light, sound, and space. Influenced by experimental cinema and kinetic art, he continues to study moving forms through the lens of contemporary tools. Marmin seeks a common language between images and
sounds — a synesthetic alphabet composed of rhythms, contrasts, and minimalistic moving figures. Whether through scientific inquiries fueled by collaborations with researchers or metaphysical explorations, his creations question our relationship with light.
