HALO
by Karolina Halatek (PL)
Halo is a circular immersive installation designed to offer a personal, introspective experience. By interacting with the work, the public discovers a new dimension of its own presence at the heart of a contemplative, pure and abstract environment. The work’s title refers to the natural optical phenomena visible around the sun or moon, produced by the passage of light through ice crystals. Here, the celestial star’s place is given to the viewer, who becomes the center of the work. The installation changes our perception of ourselves and reveals new dimensions of our existence, at the frontier of human knowledge. Halo celebrates the human spirit and the inner light that everyone carries within them and can continually rediscover.
Technical design and production by Alpha 2 (Antoine Dupuy and Andrea Granier)
Karolina Halatek uses light as a material to create immersive installations in which visual, architectural and sculptural elements interact. Regarding her work as a “catalyst for experience”, Karolina Halatek distinguishes herself through her deeply immersive work. She frequently collaborates with quantum physicists, superchord theory pioneers and precision mechanical engineers to give her works a distinctive and stimulating dimension.
Karolina Halatek inaugurated her first permanent public installation,Terminal for Tirana, in 2024.
Her Beacon sculpture, exhibited at the Noor Riyadh Festival, also won a Guinness record for the “World’s Largest LED Structure”.
