NARCISSE
by NONOTAK (JP-FR)
A mysterious sculpture in constant motion, Narcisse is inspired by the famous mythological character who fell in love with his own reflection. Referencing this foundational myth, the work opens the second chapter of the exhibition, that of technical, human, and tamed lights. The installation consists of a series of square mirrors in perpetual motion, bathed in pure, mystical white light. Together, they produce an alternation of patterns, geometries, and twinkling effects, amplified by a powerful, minimalist soundtrack, creating a true mechanical wave.
Through the interplay of angles, surfaces, movements, and sounds, Narcisse transforms the space, merging it, elongating it, then shrinking it. The work suggests new ways to experience the space in which the viewer is immersed.
NONOTAK is a creative duo founded in 2011 by visual artist Noemi Schipfer and light and sound artist Takami Nakamoto. Inspired by minimalist architecture and optical art, the duo produce light and sound installations and performances whose ethereal, dreamlike environments amaze and unsettle audiences.
NONOTAK’s works draw on Nakamoto’s work with space, light and sound, as well as Schipfer’s kinetic and geometric drawings. The result: installations that shape light, sound and space, offering audiences a unique visual and sensory experience.
