ABÎME
by Visual System (FR)
Abîme consists of multiple LED projections that place us in a hypnotic face-to-face encounter at the center of a luminous play. Captivated by a vast panoramic screen and multicolored beams, the audience is invited to experience the sensory depth of an abyssal space. Presented here in a horizontal configuration — suspended above the audience — the intense and indirect light diffracts and recomposes into geometric lines, accompanied by an original composition by Thomas Vaquié.
A multidisciplinary artist collective, Visual System creates contemporary, immersive, and experiential light art. Since 2007, its members have explored the relationships between space and time, nature and science, dream and reality, to bring to life an imaginary world where the intimate and the collective respond to each other. Combining architecture and light, Visual System connects continents to compose a living body of monumental works — visual, sensory, and organic.
Founded in Paris, Visual System consists of Pierre Gufflet, Julien Guinard, Ambroise Mouline, and Valère Terrier. Their works have been presented at the Atomium in Brussels, at La Gaîté Lyrique and during Nuit Blanche in Paris, at Art Basel Hong Kong, and at Wonderfruit in Thailand.
